November 2024
Starting the last week of me being 27, I am reminiscing about the last twelve months. I will be glad to move on the next chapter. My 27th year can be generalized as one with a lot of uncertainty, unhappiness, anxiety, but also growth, new friends, new experiences, many lessons learned.
To dive in a bit more detail, around this time last year I was a bit lost, just like I am now, and lacking a bit of love, just like I do now. The difference with the past is that now it is clearer to me what I want and what I don’t want, but at the same time I am not sure how to get it.
In the last 12 months my life changed professionally (I got promoted 2 weeks after I turned 27), so naturally, the people around me changed as well. I had to deal with jealousy and envy from people I did not expect these emotions. At the same time, I also met a lot of great people along the way. Since last November, I dealt with a lot of anger and grief, as I was not able to understand the reasons for some of the situations I was put in. Helplessness was a bit part of my overall mental state, which I also worked a lot on.
Only recently did I manage to set some personal boundaries and not let people play with my heart and soul as they please. I overcame some fears I had accumulated over the last 27 years and gained confidence to deal with a lot more things than my 26-year-old self would have imagined.
To summarize, I am happy to welcome a new year in my life, a new opportunity to accomplish all the things I have not managed to until now. Work, relationships, friendships, personal development — I can’t wait to see how these will get better and better in the next 12 months!
